Non-conventional reading is OK! #DEARForDyslexia

March 2022 brings the international campaign, DEAR For Dyslexia. DEAR stands for Drop Everything And Read and seeks to encourage young people to increase the amount they read every day by dropping everything and taking some time to engage with the written word.

Here in the UK #Succeedwithdyslexia is leading the way in encouraging those with dyslexia to engage with the written word in any way that they feel comfortable. For many, without dyslexia it is no trouble to simply read books but it is harder for those with dyslexia but the good news is that there is so much technology available now that can help give a young person access to stories, non-fiction, textbooks and exams.

How does your child access the written word? Why don't you show the world by taking pictures and videos and posting them on Twitter, TikTok and Instagram with the following hash tags:

#DEARForDyslexia

#succeedwithdyslexia

Lets see if we can share ideas for accessing text and enjoying works fiction and non-fiction.

I talk more about my support for DEAR For Dyslexia in the video below:

How to Get Involved with DEAR for Dyslexia!

This is what my friends at Succeed With Dyslexia are saying about how to get involved:

“We want to see the whole world Drop Everything and Read for Dyslexia this Spring – and we want you to do it in the way that works for you. This means celebrating each and every way that you get into books, including what, why, when and how – and we’d love to see the photos and videos of you making it all happen.”
